law were passed in 1970 requiring coalburning power plants to use tall smokestacks to disperse pollutants. power plants in the midwestern states complied with that law and people in eastern canada began complaining about acid rain. explain the connection. second one is explain why it is important to have limit on pollutant from cars and factories as the U.S. population grow and people drive more.

  1. The taller smoke stacks must have boosted the altitude that the power plant exhaust reached causing the winds to carry the pollutants in to Eastern Canada. Before with the shorter smoke stacks the pollutants probably were removed by local rains before ever reaching Eastern Canada.

    If there is no limit on pollution from cars and factories then as more and more people drive more and more cars and build more factories then more pollution will be created.
