My horse is only 4, and he is my first one. I have been riding for 6 years.

Anyway, I need an instructor to help me teach my horse to go better generally in the school, teach me how to be a more effective rider. At the moment it's all a bit leap on and leg it...charging around the school!

I'm in the UK (Kent) - what websites are good for finding a good trainer????

  1. Try the local free horsey mags, like Pegasus and Horsemart - you can pick them up at most saddleries and they have sections of instructors, Horsemart also has a website.

It's also a good idea to ask around - people will recommend good instructors. Some saddleries or feed stores have boards with adverts pinned on - these usually include a few adverts for instructors. You could also put up your own 'wanted' ad detailing what kind of instruction you need.

You could also try horse-directory.co.uk equine-world.co.uk, or yell.com.

Also if you're interested or aren't sure who to use, my yard owner Justine is also an instructor, she runs 'The Glade' riding school (Eynsford) and I believe she will also come to you (she has done for others) she's in the yellow pages, this is her number; 0870 2407409.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Is he in Livery?

If so normal the owner or manager will give you lessons on how to deal with your horse if not then go to your local farmers market they know, because farmers no everything.

  3. Call some local stables, ask if they give lessons and ask if you can get teh contact of teh person who gives lesson. call the person and ask them if they are accepting any new riders and if you could possibly go and watch one or two lessons that they give. Its also important that you choose some one who you can easily get along with. If you very much dislike teh person your working with you wont see much reasults in your rideing career and your horses training.
