  1. I have a Blue Mountain Lorikeet who "taps her beak" on the bottom of her cage. She also bobs her head up and down. Bobbing the head is a common bird behavior, my Amazon does it when she gets excited. It sounds like the beak tapping is a normal behavior in Lorikeets. I'm not worried and I don't think you should either.

  2. I have three caiques and they're very nearly as high energy as lories. They'll walk along my counter tops or on my dining room table, and do the same thing. I call it their "woody woodpecker" impression.  The head-bopping sounds like a regurgitation thing -- and it's a kind of show of affection (mine do that, too).

Mine also like to hang upside down -- from my hair, from their perches, from towels hanging on the towel bar in the bathroom --

  3. I have 2 ringneck parrots - very similar to Lorikeets.  They have several weird behaviours.  Mine tapps his beak on the floor, does this when out of his cage,  they love to scratch around like chooks.  I give him a bobby pin or a book or wooden perch to chew so that he doesn't chew my photo frames etc.

The bopping of its head it definately an affection thing.  Mine actually reguritates its food onto my feet.  When they do this that is great.... It shows that the bird has alot of affection & is trying to show it to you. Your its partner...  It's sounds female.
