  1. Check to see on the bottom left, move the mouse over the zune pic, if it's grey It's not connected, if its black it is connected. Sometimes even if it is connected you have to do it again. Or just click on the little Zune pic on the bottom left it'll tell you whats wrong.

    :) Hope I helped!

  2. You also can't easily import songs that are DRM protected. If you bought them from another online store besides Zune Marketplace then burn them to a cd and rip them into Zune.

Make sure they are in the correct audio format:

    • .wma

    • .wmv

    • .mp3

    • .jpg

    • .mp4

    • .m4v

    • .m4a

    • .m4b

    • .mov

Since you just bought the Zune and are a new user I'm going to add a little bit more as an FYI.

If you plan to use your Zune to watch videos then get a good converter. Either an online site, like vixy.net or voobys,  that will convert youtube videos for you and/or a DVD to Zune converter that will let you convert DVDs for your Zune. There are a lot of good one's out there. Some free. Most not. You can also use Win Movie Maker to convert some file formats to wmv.

Set up your Zune to monitor folders for videos, music, and pictures. To do that, open the Zune program and click on settings. In the main window  you should see monitored folders. You will see how to add them when you get there. Once you have your monitored folders set up the way you want start saving the files you want on your Zune to those folders. The Zune program will search there for compatible files and import them into your collection. Then you just sync your Zune.

You can also import music from cds you own. Put the cd in the cd tray and open the Zune program. Click on disc. The music should be listed there. Click on rip.

Zune Customer Support hours of operation are 06:00 to 22:00 Pacific Time, every day. This includes holidays.

Make sure you keep that receipt. You will need it for warranty purposes.

I know this is a lot more than what you asked about but hopefully it will prove useful to you.

Feel free to message me if you have any question about using your new Zune. I'll help if I can.

  3. You might have to do an update. Clink on Settings on the top right corner of the Zune software. Clink Software, there should be a tab with software updates. Make sure your updated are installed and than run Windows update and see if there are any of those. Once all the updates are installed restart your computer and you should be good to go.

When you can't import songs it's usually because the Zune software on the Zune itself is not up to date with the Zune software on your PC. Once you install all the software updates on your PC your Zune will update form there all by its self.
