  1. Take all the soil and transfer it to them new, bigger pot. About cutting it, not sure.

  2. What the h**l is Schefflera?

  3. before you start repotting it, buy a pot thats bigger than the original ,lay a blanket on the floor and get help to tip the plant over and try to pull the old pot off. if its a clay pot i always smash it to free the roots.once its free slide it back into the new pot ,stand it back up and make sure the plant is in the middle of the pot and put fresh compost around the root ball and firm it down well. give a good water and your done. look at this link about aftercare

  4. Just trim off any dead or damaged leaves.

For transplanting you will need a pot with drainage holes one size larger than the pot that it is growing  in, usually a couple of inches bigger. Put enough soil in  bottom of the pot to bring the plant to the same level as it was in the the original  pot. Fill in the rest of the pot with new soil. and water. You can increase humidity by putting your plant on saucer of water with rocks. Don't let it sit in water alone.
