i need help on giving 3 reasons why we should support the u.s. patriotic act and 3 reasons why we shouldnt.

In support of the Patriot Act:

1. It gives the Government wide latitude to uncover plots against the US Government and People.

2. It provides and legal and administrative framework to accomplish point 1.

3. It provides a centralized authority to sift through the information collected and take coordinated action.

Against the Patriot Act:

1. It effectively undermines and sweeps away the Constitutional protections of the people.

2. It provides an Unconstitutional but legal means to accomplish numbers 1,2,3 above.

3. It provides for a centralized authority answerable to basically no one to take action against the people on whatever pretext and if mistakes are made, they can effectively cover them up under the cloak of National Security.
