  1. omg. that's horrible!

Maybe it just got too cold, or ate something

ugh this made my stomach churn.

  2. well since it was a reptile it mustve forgotten to sun itself and it just was waiting for some sun thats why it was cold and lifeless but when you cut it open it was still alive thats why its heart was still beating soyou killed it while it was imoblized

  3. Hadn't you ever heard the story about the iguanas falling from the trees in Florida? The got cold..and went stiff and fell.....not dead. People thought they were dead but they weren't..kinda like suspended animation..

It's raining iguanas in South Florida.

A remarkable cold snap that brought temperatures in the mid-30s to the Miami area Thursday morning also brought lizards falling out of trees at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne, the Miami Herald reported.

"We have found dozens on the bike path after a major cold snap," said park manager Robert Yero. "When they warm up in the sun, they come back to life."

At least three iguanas in suspended animation could be found under trees in the park, which lies on the southern tip of Key Biscayne, a barrier island just south of Miami Beach and across Biscayne Bay from the city of Miami.

Yero had little sympathy for the frozen iguanas, explaining that they were an invasive species devastating to native plant life.

"They really are taking over," he lamented.

sry for your loss but next time do some research please before you get another reptile.

  4. wow. um. . .ok

    first what was the temperature?

they like it around 85-95 during the day. (if he got too col, he can becaome lathargic)

second what kind of subtrate is in there?

fine sand is good, but consider if there was ANYTHING that it might have ingested (accidently). if it can't pass the object (p**p) than it could become lathargic.

third. what kind of light did you have?

they require uva and uvb bulbs. without these they wont be able to process vitamin D. (again caan make them lathargic)

kinda see where i am getting? there are several things that could have happened to the monitor. and the sad thing is that you could have saved him before you cut him open.

not to be mean or disrespectful but, you should ALWAYS do extensive research on any animal before purchasing them. now i do understand that some pet shops have sales reps that dont have a friggin clue what they are selling or care who they are selling it to and will do anyting to get a sale.

i am a manager at a pet shop and i hear these sad things happen all the time when ppl buy animals from different shops and are not told EVERYTHING that they need to know.

unfortunately there is nothing you can do for your onitor now. but for future refference i suggest you research before purchasing an animal. FOR BOTH YOU AND THE PET'S SAFETY!

sorry dont mean to be a grump. hope you have better luck next time.

  5. it was probably in cardiac arrest becuase reptiles do that when they get to cold if you were to hold it up to the light it probably would have regained consciousness and everything woulda been fine but you killed your snake, too late sorry i suggest you do lots of reasearch before you buy animals it makes me feel sad that you cant take care of your snake and i dont suggest to you buying another snake or any other animal until you learn to take care of them correctly
