  1. Don't worry, you should be fine. I actually did a project on air pollution in 11th grade (Honors Chemistry), and my teacher still accepted it. I got an A on it too. I hung glass slides outside and used a microscope to count the dust particles. Your project sounds pretty advanced for an 8th grader, actually. The key is to elaborate with detail; talk about the "big picture", as in, how your topic will affect the environment. If you do that, you can make a simple topic seem advanced.

If you wanted to do the dog project, you could research "saliva" or "bacteria." For the procedure, you could swab a dog's saliva and a human's saliva and observe both using a microscope, or go to a laboratory and conduct it, but I would suggest not doing this project, as you would need to fill out many forms and get signatures.

If I were you, I'd conduct the insulation project. It seems easier to do, and the materials aren't as hard to find. I had to spend $100 on my microscope, and I bought it from a website. No store in my area sells microscopes, apparently.

Well, good luck and have fun!
