  1. Hi Kearsten, I've always had problems with my skin because not only have I had acne, but I have sensitive skin too. It sounds like you're the same way if you say that none of the acne products you've tried have done anything other than make it worse and irritated.

I have a website where I explain the problems I've been through and the natural products I've tried that actually work and don't make my skin even worse off. You can actually see some pictures of me on there too. It's www.natural-skincare-solutions.com.

    Good luck! :-)

  2. i would go for natural make up, a really good foundation and powder is from Korres natural products, I have been using it. I think they are 28 dollars each.

Neutrogena also has natural stuff, lf you can;t find natural or mineral make up, try to make sure it is oil free.

For skin care, I really like dermalogica, it is a bit pricey but they last a long time.

And always make sure you don't go to bed with make up on.

  3. First off, it sounds like you have combination skin.  secondly, you have to keep your face clean.  You have to use a makeup remover to remove the coverup.  If you've been sweating, wash your face with warm water and non-oily soap (Don't use something with excess moisturizer in it like Caress).  Your own natural oils can build up in your pores if you don't wash it regularly causing a pimple.  It would be a good idea to use a facial scrub.  Go check out the Clinique counter in a department store to buy one of their travel sized kits that contain soap, toner, and a moisturizer.  Before you do, go to www.clinique.com and click on "3 Step" to learn about caring for your skin.  I developed bad acne in my teens and was 18 before I discovered the brand, ended up as a beauty advisor for them (My skin cleared up big time) and then became a regional manager.

Mind you, it can take time, effort, and money to maintain your skin.  Your being 13, there may be other alternatives.  Also, never use anything on your skin unless its tested for that purpose and meant for that specific purpose.

  4. there is no better cleanser then powdered milk mixed with water it is lactic acid wash that will not only cleanse the skin but also exfoliate. Lemons are great toner to keep on hand to restore the pH balance. Finish with an oil-free moisturizer.

  5. I've found any skin cleansers with salicylic acid in them to be helpful-- not a miracle but more helpful than other products.  I've found St. Ive's Medicated Apricot Scrub for acne prone skin to help quite a bit, and you can get it at Wal-Mart or H-E-B for around $3-4, or you can buy the generic Wal-Mart brand of it (Equate brand) which is a little cheaper and works just as well but doesn't smell quite as good.

I also like Biore's astringent with salicylic acid- it helps and doesn't overdry your skin like a lot of astringents do.  What I've found best is to keep a salicylic acid product on my face at all times, even when I'm not having breakouts-- prevention is the key for me b/c if I stop using the products, I break out and then it takes forever for me to get it back under control.

Couple of other things that have helped me:

Cleaning my face with a wash clothe instead of just the cleanser foamed up in my hands has helped a lot-- the wash clothe exfoliates well even if you don't have any cleanser on it at all.  Also, this might sound crazy but aspirin has salicylic acid in it, and it helps my skin if I melt 4 to 5 aspirin in a tiny bit of water, scrub it on my face, and then let it sit on my face for a few minutes like a mask, then wash it off.  My skin is so soft after I do this, seriously.

Almay makes a special foundation for acne prone skin, which has salicylic acid in it, and it has helped my skin some.  And other plus for me, which I don't know if you're interested in or not but I wanted to share anyway, is that Almay does not test their make-up  on animals.

    Good luck and God bless.

  6. I started out with acne on my forehead but it got worse and on most parts of my face. Acne is not really caused by make up its just hormones. Don't pick at the pimples, wash your face twice a day with a light cleanser (no more or your skin will dry up which causes more acne). Go to your dermatologist and they usually give you some really good medicine that works with your type of acne. This medicine isn't the stuff you see on TV or in the stores (it is prescription), but it works a lot better. I only have a pimple or two on occasion which I can cover up with makeup because of it XD .

  7. WHY ARE PEOPLE SO WORRIED ABOUT THEIR SKIN. Don't worry, it's not a biggie, people are to fussed about how they look, when they could be concentrating on more important things like school, work, global warming etc...
