Ok, he is suppose to invent something that will help him with his chores. I honestly can't think of anything. I just need someone to point me in the right direction so I can help give him ideas.

  1. This is YOUR SON'S project, ergo it is your SON who should be coming up with the ideas NOT YOU.

If you encourage him to think of a way to make his chores easier to do and let HIM come up with the ideas, his project will mean far more to him than if you make the suggestions FOR him.

Take him into  his room and talk WITH him step by step through his chores and ask him what would make it easier or more fun to do and let him draw up some ideas.

  2. Each year my kids did an invention convention at school. Every one invented something.

The first step is to find a problem or something in the chore that could be easier.

Have your SON make a list of chores and what makes them so hard, enjoyable, time consuming.

After he has done that He can select the one that he would like to work on.

from there look at the problem and think of ways that they can be made easier.

remember it is his project. let him work on it so he can have ownership of it. helping is great but doing it for him is not.

  3. I am going through a messy divorce right this second..I will think on this and get back to you. Meanwhile, there are some wonderful sites if you google up Science Fair. I'll edit and post ideas later.

  4. Have him invent this and I'll buy it.  I want something on a handle that will clean the corners of the bathroom near the moulding.  I make the short children in the house do the baseboards since they are closer to the ground.  Maybe something triangle shaped to get in corners that is attached to an electric toothbrush to make it scrub.

Or...how about something to help him take out the trash, a flat bed with wheels made of wood with a pull cord (like a wagon).

Or a basket system with everyone's name on it to clean up the house putting everyone's items in each basket and then distributing them to the right person.

How about a slide that goes from washer to dryer to help transfer clothes.

That's all I have right now. Good luck!

  5. How about a software program that would keep

    track of his chores?

Or, a bicycle that can pull a vacuum?

I made a Wind Velocity Meter for the Third Grade

Science Fair and I won !

Of course, my Uncle (an architect) helped me.

I'll think about this and get back to you Tina.

Are you still married to Slap?

    I'm DIVORCED!!!

    lol

  6. How about a big magnet that is connected to his toybox, with little magnets on each of his toys. It would help him clean his room. The big magnet sucks up all his toys and wa-la, all clean!

  7. a nose plug for taking out the garbage, some utensil to help was the dished, a way to make the trash less smelly (kinda like the stuff you put in your toilet that makes it blue). just some odd ideas.

  8. http://youtube.com/watch?v=rUSTXUis_ys

    it can dust the room

  9. how about a chore pack. a "cool" bookbag of some sort with all the supplies he will need to get the chores done.

    - garbage bag

    - febreze

    - magic erasers

    - duster

    - windex

    - ipod holder

    - drink holder

    Or maybe:

a trash can that stores the bags underneath the can, so he just leans down into the trashcan and pulls up the next bag. There is no searching for a replacement bag, no trying to get the bag open, works like the wipes that come out of the round canister.

Or something to make the chore fun, something high tech - maybe a remote control swiffer type floor cleaner or a vacuum that keep tabs on how long it is in use and how much dirt it sucked up. if he beats a certain time, then earns a cash prize. incentive to vacuum up DIRT. :)  Or a computer program that is a chore list. Tells you what you need to do, when it was done last, what supplies you need to take with you, etc.

    Good Luck. SD
