I need help with my summer reading! the book "the ruby in the smoke" by philip pullman?

sorry, but the only thing i can remember from that book is that theres a girl called sally lockhart and she wants to know why her father died, and she finds out he was murdered. she buys a gun because she knows how to shoot, and avenges her fathers murder. and she meets people along the way and ends up making a business with them (Lockhart and Garland). i have no idea how this came about, by the way.
