I need help with my tivo, any tivo experts available?

I have DSL, but have decided to use the phone line to update my daily listings. It connects fine with no problems, but in the middle of downloading the information it says that the call has been interrupted. Now one is using the phone and no one calls me on that line. Should I go out and buy the usb cord like the manual suggests or am I not doing something correctly? I have already tried changing the phone setting several times. When it runs a test on the new setting it connects and disconnects with no problems but when I try to get the listings on the new setting it always stops in the middle of downloading. Help. I want to record the Olympics and I have to work.

If it's making the test call, there shouldn't be any problem with your connections. You do have a DSL filter between the Tivo and the phonejack, right?

I know this isn't what you wants to hear, but you really ought to hook the Tivo up to let it use your DSL internet connection. Not only might it solve this issue, but you will be able to use other features that don't work on dialup, like downloading shows.
