  1. Sony universal remote should be available at most stores...I suggest the Sony because they are designed to operate SONY TV sets right out of the box.....

And they have the controls that let you do IN-DEPTH controlling of Sony TV sets....

That's one of the problems with Other-Brand remotes....they do a better job of controlling their brand, but not others.....

    So, get a Sony Universal.....

  2. Here is the link for the manual for your remote.

Also here is a page from Sanyo that talks about the features of your remote.

It sounds like the Menu key should get you to a screen for changing color, brightness, bass and treble.

As for Picture in Picture, it is a feature that allows you to monitor two different inputs at once.  You could be watching regular tv in the main screen and what is on your vcr in a small  window inside your main screen.  How we use picture in picture ... we have a tv with picture in picture for our bedroom tv and use the vcr tuner to monitor a second show so that we can see what is going on with the second show and switch to it if something interesting is happening on the other show.

  3. Color, brightness, etc are usually adjusted with the on-screen menus. Check if there are front (or rear/side) buttons for control.

If you have Picture-in-Picture (PIP), it means that your TV has two tuners, so that it can display two different channels simultaneously, one in an inset in one corner of the screen. I have it on my TV and rarely use it. I suppose it might be useful if your watching some entertainment program, but want to keep track of a sports game, say one of those interminable cricket matches. Sorry, couldn't resist, based on your spelling of colour :-)
