I need help with my video camera...why isnt it responding to my computer?

i plugged in my video camera to my computer w/ a USB cord and it wont respond!!! i have a project due tomorrow and i am getting really frusturated!

  1. miniDV tape or digital8 tape based camcorders require firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link - all the same thing) to connect the DV port on the camcorder to the firewire port in the computer. You need to add a firewire port to your computer and use a firewire cable.

    USB won't work.

    USB to firewire converter/adapter won't work.

    Since you did not specificy the camcorder, it is a bit tough to trouble shoot - but hard drive and flash memory camcorders will connect with USB - you may need to install a device-specific driver.

    DVD based camcorders: hopefully you have a drawer loading DVD drive in your computer - Rip the video using HandBrake:

    If yuor camcorder uses some other storage type or if your computer's DVD drive is a slot loader, you will need an analog/digital bridge
