I need help with pemdas?

Question

I have this homework problem and I don't understand how these are different besides the peranthese:

50+24/6x2

50+24/(6x2)

I got the same answer for both of them and the point of my homework is to get different answers for both of them.

Can someone please explain and walk me through the difference?

on the first you divide 24/6 and then multiply by 2. the second one you multiply 6 x 2 first(pemdas- parentheses first!)

1. 50 + 24/6 x 2

50 + 4 x 2

50 + 8

According to pemdas, you do multiplication and division in the order you come to it.  So, in the first one you would do 24/6 and get 4, and multiply it by 2 and get 8.

Also according to pemdas, you do parenthesis first, so on the second one you do 6x2 first and get 12, and then do 24/12 and get 2.

The final answers would be 58 and 52.
