He is also making a game out of removing his training pants to p**p on the carpet. Im pregnant with our second child and having trouble keeping up with him. I don't feel that this behavoir has to do with the coming baby. We've talked about it, but our routine has not changed. Other than my slowness. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. well try taping on his traing pants just enough so he cant get them off. If that doesnt work then take him into the bathroom and dont let him leave until he goes correctly. If he does better reward him and tell him what its for like buy him a toy or take him to a fun place he likes to go.

  2. Use both positive and negative consequences.  When the bad behavior occurs there should be a negative consequence and each time the good behavior occurs be certain to give a positive consequence.  Down play the negative but really play up the positive.  The big thing is to be consistent.  I would recommend choosing times when you know that he usually goes and take him into the bathroom and wait until he goes, then reward.  Another trick that many experts use is to choose a day and let him have all the salty snacks that he wants to make him thirsty and then give him lots to drink.  This will be a day of frequent urination and a day to really practice positive praise.  When he goes in the potty make sure that he does everything himself.  Let him know that going potty is his responsibility and that when he has an accident that is also his responsibility to clean it up.  Make him do it himself and don't intervene until he can't see.  Hope this helps.  Good Luck.

  3. Have a kiddy potty in the main room with you guys, and keep up with the consistency.  He's probably responding to the stress of having a new sibling coming along.  I used that have my kids sit on the toilet for a few minutes after each accident (if it was something like pooping on the floor on purpose, he'd be there for like ten minutes).  Also, send him to sit every hour or so.
