What they heck is project payday?  Find mentors in people that you know.  Look at local business people that you admire, local pastor, parents, older siblings, etc.

Someone that does not know you, has no clue what your interests are and is 1,000 miles away is not a good mentor.

I think you've been had.  I hope you didn't give them any money or any personal information.  You should watch your credit report to ensure that nothing bad happens.
