  1. i highly doubt ra2 will run on vista. you could try right clicking and setting preferences to be compatible with windows 95/98 xp.. i believe it used direct x3a in its day.. so dont hold your breath.you could try a dos emulator and get it running that way?

    good luck!

  2. RA 2 will work on Vista, you need to right click the icon, go to properties, then compatibility, and then choose run in win XP mode. You also need to run it as administrator( right click, Run As Administrator). However you cannot play RA2 on a local network, the reason being is RA2 use an IPX/SPX protocol for networking which is not supported for vista. You can install an IPX protocol for vista from this website:

I tried it but it did not work

let me know what happens with you.

You also need to have the same version of RA2 on each computer, and you should also have the same version of Direct X.

XP uses DX 9.0 c while Vista usually uses DX 10.0, you cant upgrade XP's DX but you can downgrade Vista's.

to check your DX version, select the RUN program and type in DXDIAG.

    Good luck, and happy gaming
