I should be doing homework but I"m procrastinating AGAIN. My school books are just sprawled over the table like I just don't care. I have the potential but I just couldn't be bothered doing homework and caring about my grades anymoreeee Helppppp!

Even my teachers can sense this, I'm a good student, i try to listen in class, i take my massive text books home expecting to use them but I don't. I procrastinate!

  1. (AN OLD SAYING): "PROCRASTINATION IS THE THIEF OF TIME".  We tend to view tasks in their entirety, making them appear huge. I find that it helps to break it down into readily achievable stages, and promise myself a small reward, on the completion of each, and a bigger one, once finalised. Another tactic is to promise yourself that you will make a start, and just do 5, or 10 minutes. If, at the end of that time, you feel like continuing, do so.

Otherwise, take a short break, and come back to it, later. It's making the start, that's often the hardest part, and once that is done, everything else often just seems to fall into place, possibly because your unconscious mind is using parallel procession, and continuing to consider it, during the breaks. Set a timer, or alarm, to remind you when your next break is due, and don't put it off for too long. To do otherwise is to create a disincentive to returning to the task.

Folders, shelves, and boxes, clearly labelled, and assigning a place for everything, then getting into the habit (it takes 30 - 40 repetitions to establish a habit, for most people) of putting things in their respective places will make it much easier, in the long term, and help you in other ways, as well (having places for your keys, credit cards, wallet/purse, cellular mobile phone, P.D.A., etc., so you never misplace them). Colour coding can sometimes be of additional benefit in quickly locating something. The benefits will carry over into other areas of your life, too, such as work.

  2. I quit college after the second year. Well, I went out and started looking for a fulltime job. As I filled out applications I started to feel like c**p. I had finished high school, but I sure felt ashamed because I couldn't write down that I finished college. Then I thought, what the h**l was thinking when I quit!? I still didn't go back. Got a decent low paying job and kept on a truckin. I finally got a fulltime paycheck after about a month. I urned enough to pay maybe to pay one bill.  I then thought, oh well!  I started looking for a husband to help me out. I found one and he did help me to make it better! Then one day, he came home (after 11 years of marriage) and said he was leaving me for another woman. I had just went back to college about year before this happened, but I wasn't finished yet. I finally saw what a horrible mistake I had made by quitting college 13 years ago. It's just good secutrity to have to know you can make it on your own. You won't settle have to settle for left overs. I hope you don't make the same mistakes I did. Finish school. Hold your head up and tell yourself - I can do this!!!!! I have to do this every day to keep from quitting school again. Your not alone. We all suffer through it. Think of the end- maybe even write down  your goals. That can help, too.

  3. Find your goal in life. What is your purpose? What will happen if you do not do your studies?

Then schedule a time in your day when you will make yourself be completely uninterrupted.

Then just do it, will ya. Force yourself

  4. i know EXACTLY how you feel. it sounds to me like you might have adhd. or add. its cure able through medicine. talk to your mom about seeing a doctor, and maybe you get can get some meds prescribed. these are okay medication that actually help. i can get all my work done in a few hours with the help of adderall xr 20mg.

    really, look into it.
