Okay here it goes the questions are: Why are alkali metals kept in oils? and the other one is What metal , when burned, causes a bright red flame?

  1. alkali metals are highly reactive with water so they are kept in oil and i think it's lithium that burns red.


  2. alkali metals are kept in oils as they are highly reactive and would react with the oxygen and water vapor in the air to form oxides. so keeping them in oil ensures that they do no react.
