I hesitate to call it rock, there may be guitar but if so no distortion. A few things unique to the song:

After the second (?) chorus there is a verse but instead of singing it is a flute (or maybe recorder?) solo and then it goes back into the chorus.

There are a lot of string instruments in the mix, violins, cellos, etc.

The song is more "sad" (minor chords) than "happy" (major chords). I can't make out the first line of the hook (it is a "muddy" recording) but it sounds like the group is singing "bell pepper rain"

The chorus features multiple harmonies, at least three singers

If you are familiar with the song "Hooked on a feeling", the verse of this song has a very similar chord progression to the verse of "Hooked.."

It sounds like it could've been by any number of groups from the sixties, maybe The Turtles or even The Beach Boys, but it could easily be a one hit wonder for all I know. Also, it is not "California Dreamin'" by Mamas and Papas

That's really all I've got for details, your help is much appreciated. 10 pts. to the first person with the right answer.

  1. Could be a number of songs by Jethro Tull. His was famous for using flute in pop/rock music.

Go to YouTube and check out some of his songs.

The only Turtles song that I can think of is "You Don't Have To Walk In The Rain" but I don't think that's it.
