  1. This site is helpful

Most are caused by shaking of the head which slaps the ears hard against their face or other objects.

Long and light eared dogs are prone to this.

Its actually quite common and I saw it often in the clinic.

  2. Because they're scratching their ears, or shaking their heads.  The main reason for that is something underlying, like mites, fleas, or infections.

EDIT:  Basset, I sound like your echo, I assure you it wasn't intentional!

  3. Oh the poor lil baby. They get so uncomfortable with all that scratching.. and all they wanna do is l**k it but they just can't reach. (I can see many of the male readers nodding in agreement??)

It's b'cause they can't clean them easily... you gotta do that for 'em babe... I don't mean use cotton buds... just remove any burrs and thistles and such...

What do I know?? El gato en mi pantelones pero.

  4. Usually from shaking their head or scratching at their ears.  The underlying problem is usually an ear infection.

  5. I had a foxy, and the vet said it is very common especially as they age, they are nothing to worry about, but it would pay to get a test just to be safe, my girl had 2 and never bothered her, hope this helps

  6. Since a hematoma is a blood filled blister ,you need to find out why and where the blood is comeing from to fill it up more than once? This is strange and if it keeps going on the vet is needed to find and cure the sorce.Tilks Mom
