I need help with this: Graph each function and identify domain and range. f(x)=-{{x}}?

I also need help with g(x)={{2x}}.

Please help explain if possible. I don't have a very good teacher. I tried to do it myself but I gave up. Any help is appreciated!

  1. What do you mean by the { and } symbols?  I'll take them to be parentheses, and therefore meaningless in this context.

    Is the first equation f(x) = -x  ?

If so, draw the x and y axes, and plot some points

    At x = 0, f(x) = 0

    At x = 1, f(x) = -1

    At x = -1, f(x) = 1

You should quickly see that this function describes a line that intersects the origin (0,0) and drops down to the right at a 45 degree angle.

The domain and range are all numbers (since no value for x will result in a discontinuity (such as dividing by 0).

    ---------------------

    The second equation

g(x) = 2x works out in the same way.

    g(0) = 0

    g(1) = 2

    g(-1) = -2

This graph also intersects the origin, but rises to the right at a rate of 2-1 (or a slope of 2)

The domain and range of this function are also all numbers.
