  1. I sometimes freeze and then thaw my tofu for a more meaty (for want of a better term) texture.  I marinate it in a mixture of Bragg's Liquid Aminos, water, thyme, rosemary, sage and nutritional yeast flakes; then, the pieces are breaded and fried....they can be baked, but they're more yummy when fried.

Check out Bryanna Clark-Grogan's website and blog for numerous tofu recipes.   YUMMY!

  2. Put the tofu in a colander. Then put the colander in the sink. Next, put a paper towel on top of the tofu and them put a big book on top of the paper towel. Then push the book down to help push the water out of the tofu. After that, marinate the tofu in Italian dressing for 24 hours (it marinates better if cut up into 5 pieces). Then, grill the tofu on the grill and serve with cold curly colorful pasta that has Italian dressing on it.

  3. Ah, congrats on being vegetarian.

A favorite recipe I eat (it may not be appetizing to you) but i normally add sweet and sour sauce when cooking vegetables and tofu. There should be a recipe on a sweet and sour bottle. (Just substitue the meat with tofu)

Also this is a good recipe for starters, just make sure to add a bit more teriyaki, (if you want)

  4. just sautee it w/ veggies & soy sauce & eat it with brown or white rice

  5. throw it out, get a burger.....do you really want to eat something that "takes" the flavor of whatever it's cooked with?   ugh.

  7. I like to slice firm tofu into fingers (about the size of a fish finger) and marinade it in about 3 tablespoons each of sweet chili sauce and soy sauce mixed with 1-2 finely chopped cloves of garlic and about a tablespoon of water. I usually marinate it for a  couple of hours, but about half an hour will do if I'm pressed for time. Next you just wipe off the excess marinade with a fork and put all the tofu fingers into a bowl of dried breadcrumbs, the kind you buy in the supermarket. Shake them all to coat, then transfer them into a bowl of either lightly beaten egg, or egg replacer. About 2 eggs will do. Coat them in the egg/ egg replacer and return to the breadcrumbs. Press them in the breadcrumbs to make sure that they're well coated. Now just shallow fry them in oil until they're browned.

I have them with potato wedges, or if I'm in a healthy mood a salad, but you could use them with anything you would normally have a piece of meat with.
