  1. Here we go

1 connect your camera to the PC, either by USB or firewire, if you are using usb you will need the drivers.

2 turn it on and let your PC detect everything.

3 open W.M.M and then in the first section select capture video.

4 it will ask you the name of your captured video (my video)

    5 next

6 then select the format you want to capture it in, DV-AVI the best quality but huge files 1GB per 5 Min's ish use the recommended one (easier)

7 now its time to capture the video you can either capture the whole film or parts of it up to you (just press start capture) and off you go when you want to stop press stop capture and that's it you film will be put into WMM and you can do what you like with it from there. add music, titles your choice

just a little note when the PC is working leave it alone don't play music or use it for anything else you may start to drop frames  (miss bits of film)

    good luck RR

  2. Is it an analogue or digital camcorder?

  3. I know it's on tape man, that's why we need a powerful software like Windows Movie Maker to do the job.

First of all, figure out what connection you are gonna have: either IEEE1394 (aka Firewire) or USB. 1394 is faster when USB gives better compatibility. (not all PC have 1394 interfaces).

Also, you need a high-end PC. Cuz video processing is the most resource-consuming task of a computer. I would prefer one with Duo Core CPU at at least 2.4Ghz and at least 1GB memory.

Connect your camcorder to the PC, turn on the camcorder. And have Movie Maker capture the video. You don't even have to rewind the tape cuz the program will do that for you. Good luck.
