I need help with writing my essay?

Using Janie and Milkmanb Dead write an essay that compares and contrasts the manner in which these two characters create identitites for themselves within their respective African American communities?

Could you simplify this for me? or perhaps help me structure the essay

I was planning to take Janie and describe the events that led her to the person she is and same with Milkman.

Just make sure that you discuss attributes or characteristics that are similar (compare) and different (contrast) between these two characters in how they created their identities in their respective communities. Focus on one characteristic for each supporting paragraph (do about 3-5).
