  1. Dear Parents:

Greetings from Ms/Mr A, your child's life skills teacher at Adams School. I hope you all have had a great summer. I look forward to seeing all the students in class again. This year we will be focusing on X, Y and Z in life skills class. My goal is to have the students, at their own level and pace, proficient in these skills by the end of the semester.

Please have your students bring D, E, and F to school this year the first day in their backpack, and make sure they have a binder for our class (or whatever). As of today's date we have X students in our class, an increase from last year. Our aide will be Miss H, who was helping in Mr. K's class at Jefferson last year. We are lucky to have her with us as she has lots of experience and some great ideas for new activities.

Many students made great progress last year and we will be doing J again in October. I know they will be looking forward to that. Thank you for all you do to prepare your student each day. We look forward to an outstanding year.

    Sincerely,

  2. I recently wrote a letter for my 5 life skills classes (I'm a speech-language pathologist).  My letter was written in a newsletter format and had the following sections: About Me, What to Expect, & How to Contact Me.  E-mail me if you're interested in receiving a copy.

If I were teaching a class, I would add a section about supplies needed and classroom rules/expectations.

    Good luck!
