  1. My mom DEFINATLY doesn't have a degree and I'm homeschooled.  My mom gets books for me and I read them and do the work.  I also did K12 for a while which is also a good option.  I personally just like getting a textbook with questions and doing it that way.  There are TONS of options for you so searching the internet will give you tons of insight.  Also, for anyone who's worried about your social interaction, there's sports teams at recreation centers and tons of homeschooling groups you could be part of.  Best of wishes for whatever you choose.

  2. Some states do require a degree and some do not.  So we cannot really answer your question without knowing what your home state is.

Some states do have web-based online programs available through the public school system, but you'd still be a public schooler, not a homeschooler.

Airin passed on lots of misinformation, particularly about social interaction.  Homeschoolers can have just as much social interaction as anyone else, if they want it. She also suggested trying homeschooling "for a couple of weeks".... BAD ADVICE!  You cannot determine in only two weeks if homeschooling is right for you.  It's more like a couple of YEARS to get the hang of it, to decompress from a more traditional school setting, and to find your own way and what works best for you.  Homeschooling is a mindset and a lifestyle as much as an educational method, and two weeks just isn't long enough to realize the full benefits, or to give up if it doesn't seem to be working out.

  3. Depends on where you live, but most states have alternative homeschool requirements, even if the parent does not have a degree.

WWW.hslda.org will have more information. Online education is an option, some states have programs through the public school system (my SIL is using Arkansas' homeschool option and gets everything for free), but others do not.

  4. I have cousins who are homeschooled, and they love it. They move at a higher pace, and they skipped a grade or two. But honestly, I think it seems like homeschooled kids lack the social skills. Some people do really well being homeschooled. Others have missed out on what the majority of other kids do. You miss out on public school life, which shapes who we are, how things effect us, and how we deal with problems. Being in public school, you're more exposed, you have more oppotunities, and you have much more social interaction. Talk to some teachers in your area for more info. Talk to other kids who are homeschooled. I would try it for a couple weeks to see if you like it or not. Also, check out the library for laws and rules considering homeschooling in your state. Good luck!

  5. You need to find some information about homeschooling to show your mom.  Tell her the reasons you want to homeschool and why you think it would be a good choice for you.

Go here to look at your state's laws:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

That will tell you whether or not she needs a degree in order to home school you.

If you are self motivated and can work independently, then online homeschooling would be a good choice.

  6. Just go to school. Its good social and life experience. You don't want to be one of those weirdo home schooled kids anyway...do you?

    >>Boy you home school weirdos sure didn't like my answer huh? lol<<

  7. I'm homeschooled at the grace academy. It's online. When you get this answer just check out the site. Show it to your mom. You'll like it. We have courses and even a monitored chatroom. Im in 7th grade so i have the middle school chat but maybe if you like it we might even be friends. who knows.

But my mom is bugging me about not being social so if you have a mom like that.....good luck.

    thanks

  9. Parents are exempt in most states, a few areas require you to have a GED or High School diploma

There are on line programs but many of them cost $$$

There are also mail in programs but they cost $$$
