I need ideas for a kiddie day parade it is for ages preschool to 6 grade

there is going to be a kiddie day parade in my hometown in september and I need ideas for it. The kids dress up along with the theme. It is for ages preschool to 6 grade. If anyone has anything at all I would be greatful cause I have nothing now.

is it stricly just a parade or are you looking for other activites to do with the parade like face painting ,ballon animals  clowns a juggler...stuff like that? are you looking for theme for your parade? fall they can be seasons or fruits and vetables you can have them make their own instruments...or are you looking for specific crafts in which to make the costumes....?

I have never done a kiddie parade, so I'm not sure how this would work, but... have some parade entries be the kids dressed up as adults in what would be considered "the classic" entries in a parade-- a kid dressed up as "The Mayor" waving to the crowd from a convertible car, the "Homecoming Queen", The High School Band (you could have kazoos) and even the VFW men carrying flags.  If you want to take it really far, you could have the theme of the parade be "Our Hometown Parade".  It would take a fair amount of organizing, in that you would have to assign people to an entry, but it could be really fun and cute.

It would be cute to dress them up like old people and have the theme be some kind of word play with one hundred in it.  I'm just seeing the little boys with white beards and the little girls with granny hats.  Lol.
