  1. Hi Meg, I'd suggest to do a finger Caterpillar...simple easy, and it looks really cute. With the index finger, touch the paint, and make dots one after the other, put the antennas and the eyes, and that's it!

  2. Well, how about planting seeds in paper cups.

WHAT A SEED NEEDS TO BECOME A PLANT

    soil, water, warmth, and love.....

They can take home the plant after they end the class.  A flower, plant, or a tree...from and acorn......

  3. enchantedlearning.com

  4. Have them count plants in a garden, my mom did this with kindergardeners and they loved it!

  5. You could look at THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR - you could do art work around the book combing symmetry, you could cut some butterflies out of white paper and then get the children to paint one side of the caterpillar then fold them half to get a symmetrical patter.  You could then look outside for caterpillar's and butterflies.  Use some slow music for when the caterpillar is inside it cocoon and then speed it up for when it transforms into a butterfly

  6. At 18 months, no child will be even remotely interested in gardening. Playing in the mud and sniffing flowers is about it. They aren't intellectually or developmentally ready for anything else at that age.

  7. Not sure with this age but dirt and plastic flower pots would be fun. They could make paper flowers attached to craft sticks to plant in the pots. Of course they don't have to look like flowers. Just have them tear paper and glue it to a stick. That is art and sensory in one area. Books would be anything about spring planting. You could add the nursery rhyme Mary Mary Quite Contrary How Does Your Garden Grow. Have them plant grass seed in a paper cup and let them watch the grass sprout over time. Let them water them when they are dry.
