I'm doing a persuasive speech on US domestic adoption, and need some ideas for topics to discuss in the speech. (For your reference, I need to include: a specific problem, why it exists, and a solution to resolve it)

Thanks to anyone and everyone who submits ideas!

  1. There is a problem and it looks like it's growing everyday. What I mean is lets take the LDS family services adoption agency (they are trying to go around the natural father's rights) and it's working it takes around 2 to 3 years to get a child back in cases like this where they get people to feel sorry for the couple who know that the father is fighting to have is child return. there is another case like my son's (shawn mcdonald) in Utah now where LDs went around the birth father so you see bad adoptions happen here to.

  3. Specific problem with U.S. domestic infant adoption: There are no informed consent laws... mothers can relinquish their babies without an agency or lawyer ever having to tell a mother about the risks of doing so. (Just by way of contrast... if you go get your wisdom teeth pulled, the oral surgeon has to tell you there's a microscopic chance you could die from the anesthesia before you proceed. In adoption? You can relinquish your child and NEVER be informed that women who relinquish go on to develop PTSD, depression, anxiety, etc at much higher rates than women who parent.)

Reason the problem exists: adoption agencies and lawyers generally do not want women to know the down sides of relinquishing a child for adoption, because then women might be less likely to relinquish, and those lawyers and agencies won't receive the money for the placement. (The NCFA--National Council for Adoption--plays a huge role in this. Google it and research.)

Solution: legislation requiring informed consent laws.
