I have decided to have a Black, red, and silver wedding.

The silver is a hint or pop color.

I barely have a decoration ounce in me, i only do when i know what i'm doing.

I want a fairytale wedding with crystals and diamonds.

I have no idea what color the bridemaids should wear,

I would love to have orchids but i have never seen red orchids.

My centerpieces are going to be a vase with floating orchids in it, sitting on a mirror.

I need help with the invitations.

I just need help with someone who has a creative side.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, im a hands on person, i need pictures.

THANKS!

  1. You should check out theknot.com.  The site has tons of pictures and articles and ideas on it.

As for the orchids, I think I have seen redish ones.  Otherwise, you could include white in your colour scheme and have the white orchids with the red/purple centres

  2. I agree with the white orchids, they will offset the other colors and look really classic and beautiful.

  3. My colors were black and white with red as the accent color.  A bit different than yours since my red was the hint or pop color.  I will send pictures to your email address.  I hope any ideas I had may also help you.  Just so you know I was on a very tight budget and all of my decorations and flowers I made myself (with the help of family and friends of course.)  Centerpieces were black satin material on top with 3 candles (which were also the wedding favors), with cyrstals (bought from Hobby Lobby), and rose petals sprinkled around.  My bouquet,  the grooms corsage, and the flower petals were red all other flowers were white.  My bridesmaids wore black dresses (they had to pay for them, so I wanted to get something they would be able to wear again, so we got little black dresses.).

  4. your men looking s**y and sophisticated in black tuxes, your girls looking elegant and subtly s**y in deep garnet or ruby red [velvet?] dresses, you will be stunning in your gown of ivory or white with shots of silver beading and/or threading and your bouquets? deep reds and whites roses!  your girls jewelery could be silver with red stones as well.  how much more could you ask for? if you have a flower girl have her dress the same shade as yours and add a bright red ribbon to the dress and in her hair if possible.   it will be picture perfect!

your centerpieces sound beautiful, scatter a few 'crystal, diamond and ruby' stones around to really add sparkle and pop!  all this on white linen will look stunning.  your china in white, your flatware will add the silver you want and your serving pieces can be white and silver!

invitations in white or ivory with black print and a very fine red and silver border would be very attractive.

whatever you choose your day will be perfect and you'll be a beautiful bride!  happy wedding!

  5. There are lots of things that you can do with black, red and silver. It's a beautiful combination and it works well together.

For the bridesmaids I would have them wear black. I would have them carrying red orchids - or black baccara roses. The black baccara roses are beautiful and very stunning:

Do you want to do tea length or long dresses are the bridesmaids? I think if you do tealength you could find a black dress with some red tulle underneath. Like this picture, accept opposite:

Or, if you want long gowns you could do something like this:

For decorations you could get some red and black crystals to scatter along the table.

  8. When is your wedding?  Subscribe to some magazines and cut out pictures of what you like.  Put them in a notebook or folder separated by category.  So FLOWERS would have tons of pictures of flower centerpieces or bouquets that you like.  Then you can look through the whole collection and notice the similarities.  This will also help when consulting with your florist as (s)he will be able to notice what you like all in a glance.

As your color is red, go with roses.  It's simple and less expensive.  Use the orchids (super expensive) as an accent around if you can afford it.  Perhaps have it in your bouquet or at the alter.

As for the invites, I used entwined.com.  Grab the magazine (Modern Bride) and call the 1800 numbers.  They have pages on pages of invites ads and they send you a free catalog and free samples of whichever ones you'd like to see.  Until you see it in person, you can't decide.  Plus your budget is going to matter HUGE in this.  You don't say how many people you are inviting but when you start purchasing and factoring in postage for each, it adds up fast.

As for what color the bridesmaids should wear--it's either black or red.  Go look at dresses you like and see it in black and red.  Personally I think RED is too flashy for bridesmaids.  I'd go with black or a deep red--more wine or cranberry.  Take your bridesmaids with you.  My bridesmaids were very curvy--much more than me.  Everything I was picking out (which would have looked elegant and gorgeous on me) looked like a cheap hooker on my sister.  She ended up finding my bridesmaids dress and showing it to me.  I just agreed with her selection.  You have to take them with you if you have bridesmaids who are radically different body shapes.  Also take their budgets into account if you aren't buying it for them.  Make sure you pick a dress they can afford.

The way I did crystals (and it looked fabulous) is that my mother bought beads at a craft store.  Pearls and crystal for my wedding but for yours you could get the silver beads and crystals.  Using wire we made cystal sticks and flowers that we intertwined in my bouquet.  That would look great in your centerpieces.  For the centerpieces just use white orchids, but use rocks or marbles in the bottom in red and black.  You could also get a sparkle confetti for that diamond look to sprinkle on the table around it.

Figure out your guest list and budget first and foremost.  Then I went to www.ezweddingplanner.com.  It's a free site that helps you figure out how much of your budget should go to what.
