  1. Jungle themes are so fun!  We did one last year and here are some ideas that we used:

-My assistant and I created a tree out of butcher paper as a decoration for the theme.  We scrunched it up and stapled it to the wall and added leaves that the kids made on the first day of the theme.  We also added vines that we made out of twisted butcher paper and later added some monkeys that the kids made as a craft!  The tree was so awesome and the kids loved how we added things to it throughout the theme!

Some other things that we did were:

-Making leaf rubbings and using jungle leaves (elephant ears, etc.) instead of paintbrushes and they turned out great with some really cool patterns.

-One day for learning centers we divided them into different "animals" for the kids to learn about that lived in the jungle.

-Another day for learning centers we divided into the 5 different "senses" and related it to the jungle: I.E.- the "hearing table" was a tape with different jungle animals and jungle noises that the kids were to listen to and draw!  They loved it. (At the "taste" table we provided animal crackers and the kids were given items to choose from to make "animal cracker sandwiches" (peanut butter, low sugared frosting, etc.- they ate them for their snack later!)

    - As a special treat at the end of our theme, we had come in contact with a "friend" that we knew (a missionary through our church) who lived in Africa.  We had been writing letters and as a climax to our theme, we received a video she had taped for us of the jungle and we watched it!  The kids LOVED it!  We also made a trip to the zoo to end our theme.

    Hope some of that helps!

  2. Do a jungle themed dramatic play..... The play area itself will be artsy and representative with your theme.  The kids could actually have some senorial stimulation  with some creative textured elements.

  3. Sooo cute & easy!

    Enjoy!  :)

  4. You could use a big sheet of white butcher paper and have the kids paint it and then you can cut it out to look like a jungle tree. They could crunch up brown paper for the tree trunk. Have cut outs of jungle animals and plants for them to paint or color. Sponge painting them could give it a unique look.
