  1. How about lottery tickets...the scratch off kind. Go with the theme we are lucky to  share this day with you.

  2. Memorabilia from the 1900's would be cool.  Like photos of old cars and clothes.  There's a magazine my grandmother gets called Reminisce, and it has lot's of old pictures in it.   You could find out what his favorite sports team was when he was a teen, and what his favorite music was, and what he liked to wear.  Make a collage of photos and have them printed out on place mats that guests can take home after the party.  I read somewhere that older people like bright colors (like we did when we were little), so use primary colors for the balloons and paper streamers.

  3. 100th birthday? Portable defibrillators come to mind.

  4. How about a framed picture of the guest of honor from various stages of life.  Like one table could be a baby pic, one from high school, wedding pic, one with grandchildren, etc.  You could do it in those plastic frames that you can put things on each side (like they use on tables in restaurants) and have the pic on one side and fun facts about him and moments in history from the time that the pic was taken.  So for his baby pic you'd do things like his birthdate, weight, length, time of birth, mom and dads names, and things that happened in history of that day.  You can also add some confetti to the tables and some tealight candles to it.

For the serving table, compile a pile of various items that pertain to things about him and his life and either scatter them on the table to just make them into one arrangement in the center and sprinkle some more confetti on the table.  Like if he was into fishing, working with tools, sports, grandchildren/family, favorite food, etc then make an arrangement with a fighing pole, tool box, baseball, football, pics of the family, and fav. food item.

  5. Do you have a theme?

    Tablecloths (of course)

Floral decor-you can use a single rose in a vase or fill containers (baskets) w/ potpourri, assorted nuts, etc. Place dollies under each to add more style.

  6. How about a Roaring 20's theme?  He would have been a teenager then, and that would have been a "wild" time to be young!  Art deco was a popular style then too, so simple, geometric vases with either no flowers, or only 1 or 2...   Some model cars (20's vintage) down the center of the serving table...  If you're serving an alcoholic punch, see if you can find a "bathtub", so it can be "bathtub gin"...Amelia Earhardt, Charles Lindbergh, etc ....Photos of the Birthday "boy" from that era would be good to frame and put around too .....    Remember, people that age sometimes remember the distant past alot better than they remember NOW!

  7. For my mothers 50th Birthday party. I used framed pictures of her when she was younger, her family and her children.
