  1. Rent DDR (dance dance Revolution ) or DF ( Dance Factory)

From a friend of video game store everyone loves that!!

I did that for my 13th!

if you dont know what ddr and df are just google them as Dance Dance Revolution or Dance Factory.

    Good Luck and have fun.

  2. Give away prizes for best dancer.

  3. give the first person that starts dancing and keep handing out gifts for the best dancers and stuff like that

  4. Keep it informal:  Don't make it too big a do.  Keep it FUN, but you will need some structure for this type of group.  If your daughter can get some friends to help her and you plan, then the participation will not be a problem.

Task 1.  Ask your daughter to get at least one, but preferable two friends to help her plan the party.  This is your party planning team.  They should pick a theme and colors.   Like Tropical paradise, and colors teal and pink (surf and sand colors).   Give them some guidelines and a deadline.  Example:  Simple theme with no more that three words and no more than two colors, and they have to decide by this friday.  They need to pick the flavor of ice cream and the cake, but they should be given choices, don't give them free range on the food -- keep it doable.

    2.  Take your daughter shopping, and preferably with at least one of her party planning team.  Give them a budget, and a list of items they need.  Let them choose the items and with your guidance, it will not bust your bank account, and you'll get all you need.   Give them a little leeway on extras if you can.  It's up to you.

    3. Let the girls pick the prizes.   Bring them to a store where they can pick out prizes under $2.   This can include barrets, scrunchies, lip gloss.... The local drugstore is the perfect place to have the girls with a list, and then you MOM have to make sure it's on track.   You can package this little prizes in opaque gift bags with ribbon that you can get at any craft or party store.

    4. Get the girls to make the gift bags, and invitations.  The bags do not have to have the same item, in fact you can create a game out of switching these items like some people do at holiday times.  The grand prize is stuff in a bigger bag with 5 or so items. The gift exchange game can be a lot of fun, and it's an additional activity following the dance party.

    5. You and your party planning team should be assigned to research party games on the internet.    Make sure that you have several party games.   I recommend no more than 5, and no fewer than 3.   The dance contest is one, the gift exchange is two, and research a third?

13 year olds are sort of hard, as you know because they are still girls, but not little girls or mature girls.  They have a foot in both worlds.  Some are more in one than others etc....  That's why their participation is SOOOO important and they will be so much more enthusiastic when the day comes.  You will be the hero.   The whining will be minimal because they chose the colors, themes, as well as picked out the party supplies, type of ice cream, and cake....  you get it.  Because friends are involved, your daughter won't have to take as many emotional risks, which can be so difficult at that age.  PLUS, you will create three little expert party planners in the process.

As an adult, the best part is that the whining is minimal.  Three or four stores are involved (drug store, party store, grocery store, bakery).  Food will be likely your biggest responsibility.  You can watch the jumping up and down and be the hero.  They will think they did it all by themselves, and there is no greater pride by an emerging teenager to have.

Getting her friends to be invested is a BIG part of getting other kids to participate and attend.  If your daughter and two friends are just bubbling with enthusiasm, then that will translate to everyone they invite, and that means dancing.

  5. Yeah! Have you heard of DDR? It's a game for the Playstation 2 and really gets people dancing. If not, play musical chairs, it does involve dancing and music. And to make it really attractive, buy strobe lights and perhaps a small disco ball. Try to give it a "club" feel, yet still make it appropriate, you know? Include modern songs, and modern techno remixes. Try artists such as Metro Station, Chris Brown, DJ Tiesto, Armin Van Buren, Caramell... (If anything I' be more than willing to burn you a CD, or send you a playlist, I've DJ'd several parties from all ages and have gotten quite good results. :)) And if you can get a DJ, that would be really good. If not, get one of the kids to DJ, or do it yourself. Hook a laptop up to a set of stereo speakers and - voila! Your own DJ system. Good luck and message me if you need anything!

  6. Buy small prizes for the "best dancer", but give all the people a little something for at least trying.
