My 11 year old has a major surgery coming up (scoliosis). She'll be a week in the hospital. I would love some great ideas for a goodie bag for her.

I know the basics of course of what to bring, but I was thinking what kinds of fun things can I pack? Any ideas?

  1. Books Get a CD Player and a couple CDs Have all her friends and family send her a card that she can read Coloring and drawing are good too. Posters of pretty places help. Comfie socks Loteion A warm soft blanket to cover up with Sented candles even if you can not light them Nail polish

  2. makers.

    a book.

    a portable game

    a friend :)

    candy

    food.

    her fave drink.

somthing that comforts her like a baby blanket

  3. If you're going to be there with her then I'd get some activities for both of you like board games, stuff to do her hair and nails and of course things like books, magazines, someone mentioned those klutz kits which are awesome, most hospitals now have dvd players available so a couple of fun movies and if she's in to video games you can usually hook up your fave player in the room. A few snacks would be good but you might be pleasantly surprised by hospital food now-- a lot of hospitals hire chefs instead of slop cooks and depending on how big the hospital they might have delis in the hospital (RI hospital has an Au Bon Pain)

I wish her a speedy recovery!

  4. put some little candies and treats in there

along wiff some cutee stuffed animals or beanie babies

    and my personal fave

    BUBBLESSSS!!!

if of course they let u hav them at the hospital

    hope i helped

im thirteen and close to her age group so yaa

  5. That's so sweet! Think of things that she could use when she's sitting in that boring hospital room. Movies, games, something to keep her occupied. And I bet you can guess that the food there is not exacty...well...good. So if your doctor allows it, bring her a little something she likes to eat!

Have her family and friends write her a big get well card and include it in the pack! Good luck and tell your daughter get well soon!

  6. maybe some crayons and a tablet and some stuffed animals aww i have scoliosis. but i wear a brace. a soft brace (seriously a brace called spinecor)

anyways and some candy and stuff you think she would like.

    :-)

  7. crafts such as Klutz kits, movies, books, board games, cards, magizines, laptop, dolls (if she plays with them)...sorry thats all I can think of!

  8. get her a puppy

  9. macademia nuts

    crossword puzzles

  10. There are several lists of what to bring but they're from an adult perspective.

    and

    are two of the lists.

As for a goodie bag, whatever you do, keep it so that she doesn't have to think or concentrate for any amount of time - use the Sesame Street approach.  Comic strip-related books (Garfield, Foxtrot, etc.) are good.  She can put the book down at any time and she can handle the three or four panels for the daily strip.  A laptop may be a good thing.  If you'd allow it, see if the hospital would allow it.  Also, the TV has some mindless shows that she would be able to handle.

  11. well i loved art materials; sketch pad and drawing pencils,

a bible for teens, a book on horses, [everybody knows girls and horses], sweets, little stuffed animal, how abotu a cheap dispaoble camera [pink?] so she can snap pics of her hospital stay! and a little pretty flower,

        don't forget a diary!

  12. Ha ha ha... get her a puppy...! Yea the hospital would love that! As would you I'm sure!

Anything Hanna Montana! Just because she is going to be laid up for a week doesn't mean she cant still irritate you!

Don't forget to bring your pen and paper I bet she can help you wright some great books while your there.. "How to irritate your nurse." "Messing with Dr.s can be fun" "Bed pan?! no they are tap shoes!"
