  1. Start a club with other homeschoolers. This could even have a weekly meeting. It could be anything.

Find out about other clubs that may already be in existence.

Participate in every homeschool activity you can. Get help in setting up some other ones. There's probably a ton of stuff going on that you don't know about.

Volunteer in the afternoons. Your public library is almost assuredly open to having students help out. There are undoubtedly other places, too.

Get a pass for a recreation centre and go swimming or something.

Go for walks, different routes each day, and see what your neighbourhood is really like.

If you can't find other people to do things with, just go places with your mom: to the mall, to movies, to museums, art galleries, anything where you live for field trips.

  2. Try to find a homeschooling group in your area. If you're that kind of person, volunteer at a nursing home or animal shelter. Take an art class or something at a local community center if you are artsy. There are endless possibilities.

  3. Looks like you're already doing quite a few things.  Maybe you should just set up more time with friends, add an extra class/activity, and pick up a hobby (something to do in your spare time).

I'm home schooled and have a Biology class on Thursdays, do ballet and band on Tuesdays, have flute/piano lessons on Fridays, and do a lot of church related stuff (i.e. youth group).  I used to kinda feel that way too when I was done with school and had no activities that day.  But I have a lot of hobbies and sibs and internet and a phone (lol).  So you can always find me dancing, reading, drawing, writing, crafting, knitting, playing outside and with my fam, practicing the flute/piano, talking on the phone with my bf or surfing the net.

I find ways to amuse myself and you can too :)

    Gl!

  4. If you've got some cash lying around, blow your mom's mind by inviting her out for breakfast one morning. Grab a scone and jam and two cups off coffee - or whatever you like. Biscuits and gravy at a truck stop are cheap and filling. Sit and talk about something that is not school related and just be girls together. Read a Calvin and Hobbes book aloud, or something that makes you two laugh. It breaks the boredom and builds you bond, while taking very little time away from your studies. Some days we take our work out of the house, just so we don't have to look at the same four walls. Another tip to keep your social life interesting is; don't always call the same friend when you want to go out. Mix it up. That way you and your BFF have more to dish on when you do hang out. Learn to watch for cheap activities, that way you can afford to do more. Like, watch the paper for promotional days. Example: A local yoga studio is having an entire day of free classes and meals. I'm going, even though I'm not the most athletic person. I'm attending a play tonight to support a friend in her first leading role. It is Community Theater, so it is cheap. But I'll enjoy it as much as if it was a Broadway play. My friends will be there and they always make me laugh. We'll go early to meet people, network, make new friends and hopefully run into some old friends we have not seen in a while. If I could not afford the ticket, I could always volunteer to usher. Ushers get in free most of the time. Sometimes art studios have free demos. If you attend church and you have friends who go to a different church from you, ask them if they have anything special going on. Go hang with a new youth group for a night. Then, invite them to come to a fellowship event on your turf. Invite a buddy out to a local sporting event. Or go cheer for a friend on a sporting team. It is fun and they love it! Have you ever been to a hair show? Hair dressers hold conventions and they do hair for free just to showcase their skills. You get treated like a model and get to sport a new look. The only downside is that you may not like the look they choose for you. Again, take your mom and a friend, that way you are not the only one with a new hairdo. If the looks stink, you all go down together. Also watch for homemakers clubs, sororities and gardening clubs to hold events. They often have delicious food for sale and the money goes to a good cause. Community garage sale can be fun too. You can participate and make some money.  I guess my point is, no matter where you live, something is always going on. Get into it! The best part of an active social life is that you will complete your school lessons faster so that you can go out and play. Just don't skip that step, chores and school, then fun and you'll be sitting pretty.

  5. It sounds like you have plenty of outside activity.  Maybe you need to find a hobby or something you can do when you're at home that interests you.  Have you ever thought about art, calligraphy, needlework, pottery, designing a website, learning an instrument, etc.

If you really need to get out, perhaps you could volunteer or find an internship or part time job.  If you are in high school, maybe you could take a few classes at the community college for dual credit.

  6. Scouts, 4H and other groups like that; volunteer at a local animal shelter or other agency that interests you; local homeschooling co-ops or field trip clubs are all ways to fill your time productively and happily.  You shouldn't be bored while homeschooling, you should be (with your parents' assistance) filling your time with activities you like, which help you grow academically and socially.

  7. Gosh, unless you live in the middle of nowhere the possibilities are endless!

~Start a club with your friends and have meetings at a different person's house every week.  A cooking club is always fun.  Every week eat a different style of food.  Everyone brings the ingredients, everyone, cooks, and everyone cleans.  (That way, moms don't get mad.)

~You might not be old enough to vote, but you are never too young to be interested in your country.  Decide who you would vote for if you could, and then volunteer your time to their campaign.  I have had so much fun over the years and have made life-long friends I met at phonebanks or campaign offices.  Politics are never boring, there is always something to get riled up about!

Remember, you don't always have to be away from your house to be doing something.  Find a subject that you don't cover in school work and learn more about it on your own time.  Learn to play an instrument, take dance classes, help around the house (heaven forbid!), teach your dog a new trick every week, or just be glad that you are not an adult yet and have time to be bored!  I wish I could be bored sometimes, but I am always on the go.  Seriously, take this time you have now to relax because once you start a job, family, college, paying bills, and always driving yourself around you will long for the days of boredom.

As for going to public school, I have never been so I can't really say what you should do.  That is a decision to be made by you and your family anyway.  My parents were great about asking if I wanted to go to school, but Ialways chose not too.  My brother went to a private school for his last three years of HS and he did just fine, but I preferred to study what I wanted, when I wanted, and how I wanted.  Just my preference.
