I need info about the FLORIDA EVERGLADES!!!?

I'm doing a report about the Florida Everglades and I would appreciate a little info. I'm having a really ruff time. Thxx! =]

The everglades are drieing up. The government is trying to purchase all of the land which the everglades are on and the land near the everglades for development. All of the employees of the nearby workplaces are going to lose their jobs and it will effect many people living there.

i think right now the everglades stretch from miami to georgia if im not mistaken

It is a national park, so there's info on-line.   Its mostly level grass inland and low islands out towards the ocean.   It used to be a huge, shallow, slow moving river before roads and drainage ditches changed its flow pattern.   The projects that were supposed to control flooding helped in some ways, but made flooding more prone in others.   Now much of the land is growing citrus and sugar cane.   One of the largest owners, a sugarcane company, sold its land to the government to be turned back to its natural state.
