  1. Austin is like Orange County and San Antonio like a 30 min drive is like Los Angeles. BTW don't move there it will be a huge downgrade. You might as well move to Santa Ana at least you'll still be closer to the ocean and the mountains.

  2. People in austin hate people from CA, so I wouldn't mention that's where youre from.  Try to avoid moving here, please.

  3. While the population of Austin is roughly the same as San Francisco, Austin city limits covers a lot more land than SF does, and that comparison does not take into account the number of people that live in the areas surrounding SF, like in Berkley, etc.  The population density is extremely low here in Austin compared to SF (16,500 people per square mile in SF vs. only 2,500 people per square mile here in Austin - which would make Austin's density similar to Bakersfield, CA).  The city is very spread out, there is very minimal public transportation outside the immediate downtown area, so it's a very car-centric city.

In any case, Austin is not California, so don't expect it to be and you'll probably do just fine.

  4. Austin is the size of San Francisco--about 750,000--with culture and climate about as different as you can get.

Nothing in TX is as populous as LA.

    You're in for quite a shock--good luck!

  5. Don't worry, people from Austin don't hate people from California.

Austin is WAY SMALLER than Los Angeles, probably 1/10 of the size.

The city population of Austin is 743,074 and the metro is 1,598,161. Covers only one area code.

Los Angeles city population is 3,849,378 (2nd U.S., 45th World) and metro is 12,875,587. Covers six area codes.

Austin is very different from Los Angeles and you may find it a bit boring, especially because you come from the second largest city in the U.S. There are a lot of people here from California and Los Angeles. Don't worry, you'll fit in :)
