  1. Well I don't know anything about the camera but I did look at it and study the page for a while. For the price, your getting a good deal. Most likely, it works well! Of course that camcorder records sound with video. It wouldnt be considered a camcorder without it! And also, you probably wont need a tape. It has a USB outlet so you can connect it's USB cable straight to your computer and save the video!

  2. The Canon ZR900 camcorder is a miniDV tape based camcorder.

    Direct answers to your questions:

    1) Yes, the ZR900 has built-in stereo mics - better yet, it has a mic jack that also allows you to add an external mic (which disables the internal mics). Most camcorders in this price range do not have a mic jack. Be aware that the ZR900 does not have manual audio control. This is only important if you record in VERY LOUD r silent audio environments.

    2) MiniDV tape provides the best available video quality - that's one of the reasons the pros continue to use it.

    3) Consumer-grade camcorders do not do well in low light. Small lenses and small imaging chips. If you want good low light, you need big lenses and big imaging chips found in prosumer and pro camcorders. Using a video light will help.

    4) This is a miniDV tape camcorder. DV in miniDV = Digital video. This will not fit in a VHS adapter used for VHS-C tapes.

    5) No - any tape will not work in that adapter for VHS - only VHS-C (analog) tape will fit. Search Amazon.com for "vhsc adapter"... there are several.
