  1. My neighbor knowing I love animals brought me 4 baby/pinky rats he found when he moved his wood pile.   I had tried to save mice this small before, but they always died when getting pnuemonia from aspirating the formula I fed them with a dropper.  I  was sure they would die because they were just to young.  To make things worse I did not have the time to spend caring for them because my father was in the hospital dying of cancer and I was gone so much!

I though I was making them a warm safe place to die by placing them in a shoe box with  3/4 of the box on a heating pad set to low.   I made a little race track in the shoe box by taking a wash cloth, rolling it up, and then covering it with a soft warm towel.  I taped the edges of the towel to the box with masking tape to keep them onthe track and prevent them from getting under the towel.  If any of them had a strong will to survive I decided to find somethingthey could eat to stay alive... I took several grapes  and pulled tiny pieces of the skin off the grapes  and placed the grapes in different areas along the race track and covered them up with a very light weight square I cut from a soft t-shirt and put the lid on with lots of air holes poked in it.  When I got home the next day I was surprised to find them alive.  They sucked on the grapes and did not choke. The grapes provided them to self feed and get enough liquid to stay alive.  Every chance I got I ran home and rubbed a damp warm cloth on each baby to stimulate them to p**p and pee.  Soon they had fur and their eyes opened.  Then I put kitten milk in baby food jar tops and they laped the milk.  They all survived and were released back into the wild in a safe location.  Good luck with your babies!

  2. Depending on how old they are, it will be VERY tricky, the younger they are, the harder it will be!

Earlier this year I found 4 baby mice- probably only a day old.

It was raining and I couldn't leave them to die, although they were rodents.

But they were oh-so cute! I went to the vet and bought a nutrients milk to supply them with the nutrients they need because they didn't have their mother.

I kept then in a shoe box with fabric and I put a light above (but the lid was closed so it didn't blind them) and I had a hot water bottle with luke warm water under the fabric to keep them warm.

Sadly, they all died within less than a day without their mother, but then again they were very young.

All I can suggest is that you visit the vet for proper information.

    Good Luck!

  3. Not to sound cruel, but without the mouse-mommy the odds of those babies surviving are slim to none. Pinkies need mom's care to survive, as even most eye-droppers for feeding small animals are too large for the pinkies.

Generally speaking baby mice can only survive on their own after their eyes are open and they have fur.
