i was wondering what the numbers after the name of the processor mean.

ex.Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5750 (2.00GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache) [add $100 or $3/month1]

May delay your Inspiron 1525 ship date

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5850 (2.16GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache) [add $150 or $5/month1]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8100 (2.1GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) [add $225 or $7/month1]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) [add $275 or $9/month1]

iknow it affects the speed at wich the processor runs, but by how much, plus i want to know wich one is the best deal from the ones listed. thanks

  1. It indeed affects the speed, but by an undetermined amount.  Total speed is based on the whole of your computer.  I say you get the T5850, since its cheap and you're buying an Inspiron (which is the worst line from Dell).

  2. Those are the model numbers.

They are an easier way of distinguishing between different processor specs. It's easier than typing "(2.00GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache)" every time you are referring to a specific processor.

The most spec'd up one (the last one) would be the most "ideal" one. It's also the most expensive... but you get what you pay for.
