Ladeira dos Tabajaras, in Copacabana, is near a residential area, some 6 blocks from the beach, but it has a small favela (shanty town). Drug trafficking, etc.

Since its in the middle of an area with middle class buildings, its not very violent. But if you are staying there you should be weary.

Ladeira means Hill (sort of) Its a Hill road.

Also, the favela is higher up in it. So depending on the number, its right in the middle of Copacabana.
