I would like to know the history and especially the origin of the name Alhama. I am just curious because I grew up in a small town with the same name in the south of Tunisia. It was named Alhama because of its thermal baths. Is it possible that the Spanish town Alhama was also named by the Arabs?

  1. I have been to Murcia. LaManga is awesome. Great resort. great golf. The water there is cold. What do you want to know?

  2. Alhama means baths.

All Spanish words starting with Al- are arabic.

There are other villages named Alhama (Alhama de Granada, Alhama de Almeria...) Anyway, if you can read Spanish + want 2 know about Alhama de Murcia, this is the town hall´s website www.alhamademurcia.es/

  3. Yes - I think you are correct

The arab nations had a huge influence on Spain at various parts of its history.

I'm sure thats the reason for the name
