I need information on researching our family tree?

I've never done it before, have no idea where to start. Are there any good free programs to help and get me started? I really have no idea what or how to go about it.

I've never done it either...A guy I used to work with was into it to the point that any free time he had he was workin on it.  No social life what  so ever...lol

I think if you type in Geneology to google you might be able to find some info on where to get started on it....Good luck   = )

There are over 400,000 free genealogy sites. At the moment Y!A is not letting me paste my standard answer, perhaps because it is long. If you search the resolved questions for "Family" you will see my standard answer and the standard answers of the other top 10 people. We all have links and tips.
