I need jeep wrangler help?

Question

I'm thinking of buying a used jeep wrangler. But are most of the old ones stick shifts? Do i need to buy one at a certain year to make sure its automatic?

DONT buy it.my buddy bought a cherokee that was in good condition and it gave him nothing but trouble.he bought it for 4 grand.he had to dump 12 grand in it to keep it on the road.any old wrangler or jeep for that matter DONT buy.my grandfather bought a used wrangler and hes having to wait a year and a half for a new transmission.hence the trans is made in germany. just do yourself and us a favor and DONT buy it.

I would say the autos are bad on gas, I have a 94 manual and get 19 to 21 mpg's, and for the guy that said there junk, learn to fix it your self instead of paying a shop, you can get a trany for 200 easy at any salvage yard, and it take 1 hour to put it in. Get a jeep you will love it.

be wary about getting a jeep they are fun but suck on gas! I always drive a stick they are better and can actually save u on gas.

If your going to buy one then go to the place ur buying it from and ask if its a stickshift or automatic!

My friend has a 88 or 87 Jeep Wrangler and it's automatic.

I actually just sold my 2000 jeep wrangler.  It was an automatic.  Just depends on what you get.  You just have to make sure that you find an automatic like I did.  Something that you can do is look on Yahoo Autos.  You can type in keywords, and put automatic.  It also has an area that you can choose year, price, etc.  I would also put in your zip code and choose 50 miles away.  It will tell you on the information whether it is automatic or stick.  Remember, the older the model of the jeep, the more likely it is to be a stick though.  I LOVED my jeep!!!  It was the best vehicle that I have every had!!  Good luck on your search
