The best way for your room to stand out from your friends is for it to look more grown up and trendy than theirs!

You can gets lost of ideas from interiors magazines such as Ideal Home, Homes and Gardens and Living etc to name a few.

Remember you spend lots of time in your room so it important you feel comfortable with your surroundings.

Choose your favourite colour and paint the walls with it, but keep one wall free to wallpaper! There are so many great ones out there. You can view some here:

Or if you don't fancy wallpaper, another cool way to paint your room is to paint one feature wall a different colour! For example the wall your bed is against or the wall with a fireplace or window!

Co-ordinate your bed linen with the colours you have chosen for your walls and add lots of cushions that you can lounge around on!

Why not use a dressing table to do your makeup at use cool jewellery holders to display all your favourites.

Another great touch to add to your room is wall stickers!

Find a calm gender neutral color and drape the walls with a beautiful fabric. Visit any fabric or art stores and ask for good combinations.

Get some fine sandpaper and rub it all over the surfaces to be painted. This "scratching" allows new paint to adhere better. Pick a very neutral color, so that any color of decorations will look good.

I have 5 girls at home & 2 are teens. I took them to the store & WE picked out the ideas for there rooms. First we picked the bed spreads. Then got the paint that matched the them of the spreads. Now we left one wall 50% white. I out lined it with a frame (brown & black) this was  their graffiti wall. Where they could write all their friend names, phone numbers ect. Then on one other wall we took curtains and hung them from the ceiling to the floor (so they could change the color of the room, when they wanted too, or hide their posters).

-other things take cork board & secure it to the wall (the entire wall) to hang posters, notes, art work on.

- Get a window shade (prime it then paint it to go with your design)

- Make a collage with famous people & friends on the top of your desk. Lay plexi galss on top of your work (so you don't disturb it)

- Take & paint your room the color you want (a lighter color) then using a compass or a kitchen plate (all different sizes) draw circles on the wall & paint them different colors to match your bedspread.
