I moved to another state, because the last state i was in cancelled me and my childs insurance, it was medicaid, without notice. I had a leep procedure six months ago and was suposed to get a check up to make sure my cervix is healed and that i don't have cancer. Well since i don't have health insurance and have no income, what can i do? btw, i have been out of insurance for atleast two months, and had a job but it was seasonal, so no insurance was given. now i am searching for a job, but can't really go to many places, its cold and i don't want to take my child out, she catches colds very easily.. but back to the point, What can i do, or what should i do? i have looked it up online and still no help.

i asked this question in Health, but i don't think it belonged there.

  1. Go to the county hospital in the state where you live.  They may be able to see you and you make arrangements to pay later.  I know where I live (Texas) the county hospital will get you insurance if you make so a certain amount of money (low income) ... at least that's what I have heard.  Can't you just apply for insurance through the state where you live now?

  2. The first step is to contact the local Medicare office in the state you reside in now. They will point you in the right direction. It is probable that you and your child will qualify for health insurance, and possibly other programs such as daycare, food assistance, etc.

On Yahoo search, simply type in your state and the word, "Medicare," or, "Medicaid."

  3. You will either have to go to the welfare office and see if you can get insurance or assistance for daycare so you can get a job with insurance.  You could get a job and buy your own insurance or talk to the Dr before going in about making payments on your visit.

  4. Let an insurance broker do the shopping for you. A broker works with several companies, and can find the best policy and terms for you. To find a broker in your area, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote.

  5. Re-apply for medicaid in your current state. With a child and your "cancer" diagnosis, it's highly likely you will both be eligible.

Google medicaid and your state-you should be able to locate the closest office to your home.
