I have a 4 months old girl. When she was just born every body wanted to hold her, and I believe she got use to that.. Now when she is not sleeping all she wants for me is to hold her and she cries and cries until I hold her and start walking around with her, because if I sit down she starts crying again. Also before she falls sleep she cries and cries and roll on the side ( because she already able to do that) and cries and cries like something bothers her. I check her pamper, I see if she is hungry and nothing, and she seem sleepy but she can't fall sleep and she crys so much.. I really dont know what to do.? I get really frustated. Please any advices? Also she has a little bit of eczema. Do you think it may be that, that is bothering her?

  1. If she is healthy, and you've fed and changed her, all you can do is let her cry.

By continuing to hold her until she  falls asleep each night, you are only drawing out the process longer.  Just put up with the crying, and she'll eventually get over it,

  2. If she is fed, changed, and not too hot or cold then you need to let her cry. You are only going to make the process of stopping her need to be held by drawing it out longer.

  3. Most likely she just wants to be held.  Unless you're prepared to do that for a very long time, teach her to fall asleep in bed now.  You will be doing her a favor.

BUT - there is one thing you should check first.  She could have an ear infection.  Two of my kids started getting them around 4 months. The rolling onto one side might be a sign that the other side hurts. She may not necessarily have any other symptoms.  If the infection is low grade and lingering, there may not be a fever or stuffy nose. A constant slightly runny nose is likely though.   Have it checked out before you decide to just let her cry herself to sleep.

  4. At four months old your baby is able to start learning to soothe herself a little. Do like your doing, check all the basics...is she hungry, wet or dirty, cold or hot, if she is fed, has a clean diaper, and is not hot or cold, then she is ok and it wont hurt to let her cry it out a bit. it is the hardest thing on earth to do, let your baby cry. but sometimes its what you have to do. instead of running to her right away, let her cry for a few minutes before you go to her.
