    "THE bullet train" typically refers to the japanese high-speed network, known as Shinkansen.

    'A bullet train" might refer to any high-speed rail, in which case you can also consider european trains.  the most extensive, most well-known, and oldest of the euro high speed are the French TGV (train à grand vitesse), and other countries/systems use the TGV too (look up AVE in spain, thalys for belgium/holland, eurostar for UK/chunnel, and KTX for south korea).

    germany uses a different type of train and technology, so look up german ICE trains.

    and amtrak's entry is Acela, made by a partnership that included TGV's manufacturer, but there are differences and america is not using TGV yet.
